Collecting and tracking information about your contractors is a great start, but for some companies that must maintain higher levels of safety and quality AuditGUARD is a must-have human addition. PICS will assign a highly experienced and trained Safety Professional to perform one-on-one reviews on everything from paperwork in the office to performance in the field. You can customize which audits we perform for your contractors based on their risk profile and your organization’s needs.

Manual Audit

The Manual Audit (aka Safety Manual Audit or Desktop Audit) is a thorough review of a contractor’s safety manual and training program. The review considers all services performed by the contractor and ensures the manual complies with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Contractors with deficient manuals will be given the opportunity to improve before moving forward. Each review is performed by an experienced PICS Safety Professional, not self-performed by the contractor!

Implementation Audit

The Implementation Audit is a review of training documentation to ensure that contractor safety training plans are being implemented properly. A PICS Safety Professional will meet with each contractor to verify training documentation such as Hazcom, Respiratory protection and other PSM required training is conducted in accordance with PSM 1910.119 standards. This audit also reviews inspection and maintenance logs to ensure that equipment operated at owner/operator sites is inspected regularly. The audit is also customizable for non-PSM contractors.

Implementation Audit Plus

The Implementation Audit Plus (IAP) is designed to be a supplemental audit to the Implementation audit. The main focus is to assess that contractors are continually conducting required training and/or medical surveillance in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements. This is a customizable audit to accommodate site-specific contractual requirements with their contractors.

Background Check Audit

The Background Check Audit assists organizations to comply with Regulatory and Internal requirements as it relates to background checks. PICS audits contractor compliance and how each company administers background check on their employees. The audit reviews contractor validation process and criminal history reviews.

Field Audit

The Field Audit is an inspection to ensure that contractor employees understand the policies and procedures found in their company’s safety manual. Per PSM standards, our Safety Professionals conduct interviews and cross-reference the Manual and Implementation audits to validate that contractor employees have a full understanding of the work practices necessary to safely perform their jobs.

Integrity Management Review

The Integrity Management (IM) Review is designed to address areas of potential risk at owner/operator sites. The review evaluates contractor competency programs to determine if processes are in place to deploy and maintain competent employees. Areas of concentration include reviewing employee job descriptions, assessment documentation, and training plans.

Drug and Alcohol Audit

The D&A Audit is an audit of a company’s Drug & Alcohol program in regards to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) 49 CFR, Part 199 Federal Regulations. This audit reviews the elements called for within those regulations along with verifying and reviewing documentation that testing percentage thresholds were met. This audit can be customized to meet and include Federal Regulations for the FAA, FMSCA, FRA and FTA also.
